Dog Dieting
Dogs and Puppies are the best pets to have in my book, because they are so fun, interactive, and enjoyable. Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where the dog or puppy sees you eating and they begin to look anxious for a handout. What do you do?
Your dog’s diet is very important and many dogs may have sensitive digestive systems that require a special diet. By feeding your puppy properly you are setting him up for success as a dog. Proper nutrition is essential in developing strong bones, good muscle and a smart mind.
There are several food items that a dog should never receive these include:
- Chocolate
- Candy
- Table Scraps
- Chicken Bones and other bones that splinter
Chocolate can be highly poisonous to dogs and if the dog does not die, they may suffer from brain damage associated with eating the chocolate. Candy is high in fat and if it contains chocolate it is also dangerous. Table scraps are also high in fat and many obese dogs were fed table scraps when they were younger. You should never feed a dog people food. Sometimes it can be a tough task to do. If your dog has any access to the trash bin, he almost certainly will take the opportunity to eat something from it. A good solution that you can be implemented is using some kind of a training collar. After a little bit of training, he will get that eating from some places is forbidden. Later on, you can use wireless dog fence or any other form of the automated solution. The occasional hot dog as a treat is okay, but human food should never be a part of the dog’s diet. Chicken bones and other bones that splinter are also very dangerous. The bones may splinter as the dog chews them and the splinters can become lodged in their throat and stomach causing major internal damage.
